Collaborating roast partner: Allegro Coffee Company, Denver.
Shipping dates and availability: May 21st to Oct 2nd.
Artist who created Cassiopeia's portrait: Lauren Kaelin
Coffee cocktail recommendations: In a Negroni, replace the vermouth with cold Cassiopeia. In unison with the Campari and gin it adds a smokey flavor. It goes great with Mezcal and Tequila, also.
Playlist in Cassiopeia's honor: Nightsky, Stars, Cosmos via Spotify.
Inspiration behind the name: During a visit to Bryce Canyon National Park, a Park Ranger pointed out the Cassiopeia constellation during what's called a 'Night Sky Tour.' Upon learning that Cassiopeia had Ethiopian connections, we decided to name an Ethiopian coffee after her.
Story of Cassiopeia
In Greek mythology, Cassiopeia was the Queen of Aethiopia (modern day Ethiopia). She was banished to the sky by Poseidon, God of the Sea, for boasting that her daughter Andromeda was more beautiful than the spirits of the sea.
As a constellation of the North Sky, located in the Milky Way galaxy, she is recognizable by a ‘W’ shape. Her name has appeared in ancient Phoenician texts as meaning ‘rose colored face’ and ‘cassia juice,’ the Latinized form of the Greek Κασσιόπεια or Cassiopeia.
*A hand pressed print of Cassiopeia is included with each order.
